The falling of the sun foretold night's rise. It was beginning to set in another region of the world. It was the only thing that hasn't changed in this day and age, where machines were now the majority posed the greatest threat due to their rising numbers. The setting sun could be seen in the reflection of her rounded violet sunglasses as she drove their ambulance into the next town they were moving onto.
The black cat kept the lights and sirens off, lest they should attract unwanted attention. Her lavender miniskirt clung to her thighs and hips, the foot of her thigh-high leather boot gently staying on the gas pedal. The steering wheel gradually turned left and right, down roads and avoiding debris left in the street. Pandora kept the lights turned off both inside and outside the ambulance. It wasn't as if they'd need them on - she and her kind could see rather clearly at night anyway.

Tyamet sat in the passenger seat, and watched as they drove on, stroking the side of her pistol gently. She barely knew how to use a gun, but she knew enough to know which end was the dangerous one. Her blue hair whipped around as she leaned out the open window slightly.
"...this is pathetic...before we slept, the world was full of fresh blood. Now we wake up, and it's nothing but stinking machines." She growled lightly and glanced at Pandora. "I'd rather have taken on the vampire hunters than wake up to this hellhole."

The black cat's nose twitched as she kept her eyes straight while she responded to her fledgling daughter, "As would I, but the odds were stacked against us. We had far more enemies than we did allies, Tyamet. Despite it being a cowardly thing to do, we had to hide and sleep for our survival." She stopped at a light. Not that she needed to - there was no electricity or even any other passing vehicles. She turned around in her seat to look back at her son who was seated in the back. "Where's the hospital from here again, Noir?"

Noir dipped his head up and down a few times listening to his "mother" and "sister" while an ear flicked slightly. The teen fox carried no firearm at all but on the seat next to him was a large twin bladed sword. "Seeing as how both hunters and ferals were starting to tare our numbers apart sleep was the better choice." He sighed and looked out the window. "But I do miss the old times as well."
He shifted on his seat the simple armored outfit he'd pulled together and then at Pandora's request grabbed out the map and looked it over a few times. "From what I can tell mother, if we keep on this road we should find it a few more miles ahead. I think it should be a large easy to find building and when were closer may have signs pointing the way."

She nodded her head and turned back to continue driving down the road she was on. It wasn't long before she saw the hospital. With a slight smile, Pandora pulled up to it, turning off the engine and pulling the keys out the ignition.
After seeing that the sun was disappearing over the horizon, she took off her sunglasses and put them in a breast pocket on her black leather jacket. She turned to look at Tyamet, knowing full well that Noir was listening intently. "You two know what to do. Keep your senses alert, pay attention to the things around you. Grab a gurney, a cart, anything we can use to haul the blood back to the ambulance."
She got out and waited for her two fledglings to get out and join her.They were all one another had and she, like any other mother, wanted safety for her children.

Climbing out of the ambulance, the lizard girl sighed and stored her gun in her boot. "Yes, Pandora...because robots will be guarding an old hospital like crazy..." Waving her finger in the air, she strolled into the front lobby. "I'll check the basement..." Finding stairs, she started down them, her hands inside her trenchcoat pockets. "..times like these I wish I could just go back to sleep..."

"We don't know what else is out here in this world now Tyamet." Noir shook his head from side to side a few times while getting out himself and grabbing his sword as he did so. Holding it in a loose but firm grasp the fox glanced around a few times and then shrugged his shoulders sniffing the air. "Hmmm....Something smells out of place, bad blood." He turned towards Pandora. "We should be real careful." He warned then headed in himself.
Heading up the stairs Noir kept his grasp on his sword the whole time while starting to poke around and about at everything he could find. His ears twitched flicking as every so often he'd hear something moving but never quick enough to see.
Where the Lizard girl was looking was dusty and filled with old medical gear either broken or useless. Power had been lost to the basement some time ago leaving a lovely smell of rotten food stuff from a nearby store room. Like where Noir was every so often a rattle or clink of something moving could be heard nearby.

The black cat took out two of her throwing daggers from inside her leather jacket as she cautiously strode through the ground floor, between Tyamet and Noir. She could smell the bad food as she came upon the cafeteria. That made her sigh. She knew that if the freezers for the blood weren't running on backup power, they may not get as much good food.
She grabbed a gurney and dragged it behind her on it's wheels. On a better note, she could feel her powerful vampiric abilities coming to a rise. The sun was at it's last minutes. She thought to them with her preternatural link to her children. *The sun is down. How are things looking for the two of you?*

Tyamet growled low, and shoved aside a bed. Hearing Pandora in her mind, she replied. *Nothing down here but broken beds and machines. I think this was a waste of time.* Glancing around, she found a large backup generator. *I found a generator, though. I could try to get the power working again with a quick zap of lightning magic..*

Hearing the voice in his head Noir closed his eyes to answer Pandora back. *Nothing up here of use to us. But I don't think we are alone either.* He carried on walking and let out a deep sigh as he realized the sun was going down and his senses became that much sharper. This time as something moved he was fast enough to spin around and see a hint of what it was...
The generator was still in one piece for the most part however stepping closer Tyamet would see a large collection of claw marks covering what appeared to be the control panel for it. Slashes ran deep ruining the normal means of turning on the power.
Pandora would likely feel something was wrong now, the bad blood Noir had spoken of lingered in the air strong and powerful. Inside the cafeteria there was a sight to chill her. Blood was splatted over the walls and floor and in a heap on the floor was a long dead body of a child.

She carefully moved through the halls of the cafeteria, her yellow feline eyes radiant with a preternatural glow and shifting over the the place. She froze in place when she saw the blood splattered on the wall. It took her a moment, but she responded to them nevertheless.
*Tyamet, don't do it in one great bolt. Gradually bring the electricity up from a small current to a surge, if you can. We don't want to blow the generator if it does work.*
She walked cautiously to the scene, kneeling next to the corpse with wide eyes. Pandora examine everything about them, particularly the wounds and the smell. Her heightened senses and knowledge of tell-tale wounds would tell her what killed this little one.
*I agree, Noir. I found a body down here in the cafeteria.* She surpressed a shudder the more she looked over it. *... a child. Be alert you two.*

Nodding, Tyamet placed a hand against the side of the generator, and made gestures in the air with her other one. Sparks flew as she slowly sent electricity into the generator, building it up from a small spark to a full on current. *I'll hold it as long as I can...hopefully this will be enough to at least get the lights on.*

The child's body had been torn apart by something which wanted to spill all the blood out and didn't care for keeping the victim alive. What looked like claw and teeth marks had made the wounds and Pandora's senses would tell her this was recent as well.
*Mother.* Noir spoke to Pandora. *If you can tell Tyamet to try and get the lights up as soon as possible that would be helpful....* Noir had found what caused the problem and a loud crash echoed around the hospital as he started to defend himself.
Slowly the generator started to gasp and wheeze into life turning over but straining to do so. Lights flickering and then dimly glowing just enough to cast shadows and tease at illuminating the area.

Her suspicions confirmed. Whatever killed this young boy was still in hospital. She stood up and her head snapped in the direction she heard the crash.
*Noir was right! We're not alone!* she thought out to Tyamet as she ran blindingly fast to the floor above her, following the sounds to where Noir was. Her fingers held the flat sides of her throwing knives tight, ready to cast them onto whoever was attacking her son.

*Perfect...this day gets better and better* Her eyes sparked with energy as she chanted something under her breath. The electricity surge she was making increased slightly, hoping she could jump-start the generator. *I'm trying to get this thing working, but it's slow. Noir, is the thing you found robotic or not?*
